Background Information - Job-specific
The successful incumbent will be part of the Programme Management Office and as such will work under overall supervision of the PMO Team Leader.
Functional Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist in translating internal and external documents. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Ensure translation of necessary documentation from English to Arabic, or Arabic to English, as requested by supervisor.
Assist with interpretation services in meetings with beneficiaries, donors and other stakeholders; and
Assist with interpretation services for visiting donors and implementers as required.
Liaise with colleagues who have translation needs, organizing one’s own translation work, ensuring good quality translation;
Familiarize oneself with the organization’s structure and the team’s processes;
Assist with the creation of presentations for events;
Perform other related duties as required.

Education/Experience/Language requirements
a-Education
-Secondary school experience.
-Bachelor degree in Arabic/English Translation or related field preferred.
-Certificate or diploma in translation, highly desirable.
b-Work Experience
-At least 4 years of relevant experience working as a translator or interpreter;
-Knowledge of Palestinian legal and security system and terminology, an asset; and
-Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point.
c-Languages
-Strong written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.

Contract level: Local Support, ICA level 4
Contract duration: through 31 March 2016 with possibility of extension (initial contract will be for three months)
Duty station: Ramallah, with regular travel to Jerusalem
