Request for Translation and Interpretation
Service Providers

Islamic Relief is implementing a three-year Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Labour Market (LM) project in the Gaza Strip. The overall objective of the project “Enhancing Youth Employability in the Gaza Strip’’ (EYE) is to contribute to a unified TVET system that provides youth with high quality LM relevant skills and effective employment services.
EYE project is looking for qualified translators and interpreters candidates who will be contacted during project period 2014/2015.

Main Responsibilities:
The translator/interpreter will be responsible for:
1-Producing accurate and concise translation of documents, reports and other materials from English into Arabic and vice versa using appropriate terminology;
2-Quality checking and proofreading for the translated materials, ensuring that no typographical errors are left in the final text;
4-Acts as Arabic/English interpreter during project's workshops, trainings, meetings and events when required as directed by Project Team.
5-Accompany International Short Term Experts (ISTE) in their visits, meetings and workshops.

Required Expertise and Qualifications:
1-Hold a Bachelor's degree in English Literature or relevant degree or qualifications. Having translation and interpretation diploma is an advantage.
2-Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English.
3-Excellent ability to perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. Ability and experience in using simultaneous equipment is an asset.
4-At least 2 years of translation and interpretation experience into English and vice-versa; preferred experience in TVET field.
5-Proven record in translating documents and reports either from English into Arabic and vice-versa;
6-Good communication and interpersonal skills, team work, and professionalism.
7-Availability and flexibility in providing the services when required

Condition of Service:
The selected candidates will have an open contract with procurement department and will be contacted when needed. Payment of services will be based on translation quantity (word based) and interpretation duration (hour/ daily based).
