THE ORGANIZATION:
The Palestinian Working Women Society for Development (PWWSD) is a Palestinian Non-governamental Indipendent Organization, which forms a vital part of the Developmental Democratic Women Movement. PWWSD strives to empower women in the economical, social and political fields. In addition to that, the organization works on eliminating poverty and marginalization as well as working on combating all forms of violence and resisting the occupation. PWWSD works to its maximum efforts to stress gender equality within the various laws and regulations alongside with resisting the fundamental and patriarchal structure aiming at eliminating all forms of discrimination against woman.
The PWWSD, in partnership with the WOMEN Network and the Palestinian Youth Union (PYU), will create a Gender Resources Center in its headquarter in Gaza City, in the frame of a project funded by the Italian Cooperation.
For its base in Gaza, PWWSD invites candidates with relevant qualifications to apply for the positions of:

THE PROJECT:
The Gender Resources Center (GRC) is a Center of services, meetings and initiatives for the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The aim of the GRC is to create a Center for the collection of resources that can be mobilized in favour of women, to provide them the guidance for the access to services and to promote the empowerment of women as individuals and of the associations and institutions working for women and their rights in Gaza.
The main activities implemented in the GRC will be:
- Provide listening and guidance to women with the activation of a help desk in the GRC.
- Realization of needs assessment activities (focus groups and study circles).
- Organization of Seminars on gender analysis held by expert on gender, economics and politics and realization of the related publication of a Guide on Gender Analysis.
- Networking activity addressed to institutions, associations, local and international organizations working for women and addressed to the involvement of gender experts, academic and political women, women actives in women’s associations.
- Income generating activity with women in the outskirts of Gaza City.
- The Political Empowerment of young community leaders and realization of a Report on the Violation of Women’s Human Rights in the Gaza Strip.
- Activities in the field: workshops and lectures on human rights of women and equality between men and women in the Gaza Strip and Public Hearings on the violation of gender equality and human rights of women.
- Open days to present the GRC’s activities to the citizenship.
- Communication campaign for the promotion of the GRC.
- Information and awareness campaign in collaboration with Radio Shabab FM (Ramallah) and local radios which will broadcast radio programs on the condition of Palestinian woman.
- Creation of a discussion forum online.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The two local operators will work under the direct supervision and coordination of the Project Coordinator of the GRC and in close collaboration with the Communication Officer of the GRC.
Their position will be also supervised by the expatriate Project Manager and the Executive Director of the PWWSD.
They will be responsible for the realization of all the activities of the GRC and the promotion of the networking activity, through different means.
Working in team with the GRC staff with the aim to improve and develop appropriate services, within a common vision developed through a participatory manner, they will:
- Identify the best modalities and the methodology for the realization of the activities.
- Elaborate the contents and subjects of the activities and take care of their quality and their positive impact on the women who will participate.
- Identify and select the women, beneficiaries of the GRC activities to be implemented both in the GRC (help desk, workshops, study circles, seminars, open days) and in the field (workshops, lectures and public hearings in the Gaza Strip, income generating activity in the outskirts of Gaza City).
- They will encourage the participation of women to the GRC and to the Help Desk and take care of the collection and report of the required information about the women-beneficiaries involved in the activities.
- Prepare (and if required translate from Arabic into English and vice versa) activities reports and minutes of meetings.
- Work for the creation of a network with other association working or providing services in favour of women in order to involve at least 10 relevant services/organizations as referent for the Help Desk and coordinate with them for providing support to women.
- Collaborate with the Communication Officer in the elaboration of the contents and subjects of the Campaign for the Promotion of the GRC and the communication activities with the Radio and the Online Forum.
- Undertake other tasks/responsibilities as requested by the Project Coordinator of the GRC and the Project Manager.
They will be also responsible for:
- the realization of a Guide on Gender Analysis as a result of the Seminars about Gender in the economical and political situation of the Gaza Strip and
- the supervision of the realization of a Report on the Violation of Women’s Human Rights in the Gaza Strip resulting from the activity of political empowerment of young community leaders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- The Local Operators of the GRC should be women, resident in the Gaza Strip.
- Hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent in Gender, Human or Political Studies, Social Work or related field.
- Have at least 3 years of working experience in women’s association, as activities organisers, facilitators and coordinator.
- Demonstrated experience in the direct implementation of activities that respond to women and girls problems and in the promotion the role of women in the cultural and political settings of the Gaza Strip.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing participatory program approaches.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
- Reporting and redaction skills about gender themes.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and ability to develop analysis on gender themes.
- Ability to work autonomously and to take the initiative.
- Problem solving skills and ability to work within a team.
- Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability, capacity to take initiatives and to work autonomously.
PREFERABLE:
- Experience in working with international NGOs
- Driving license
