UNIFEM/Gender and Agriculture Consultant

Duty Station: Ramallah
Duration: 3 months (with possible extension of 12 months)
Position: Part-Time
Deadline: 1 April 2009
Remuneration: 750USD/month
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gender and Agriculture Consultant (GAC) will be responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, overall technical and management assistance to planning, programming, programmes and projects related to women’s empowerment in and through agriculture and agriculture-related businesses; liaising with UNIFEM Gender Equality Monitoring Officer for the development of a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework for agriculturerelated programmes and projects and for on-the-job training of key-staff on the development and implementation of the M&E framework; monitoring ongoing projects targeting women in agriculture and drafting recommendations to
address existing gaps; ensuring flow of information regarding all issues related
to women in agriculture; facilitating discussion on strategies, plans and activities related to women and agriculture among relevant stakeholders; liaising between UNIFEM and key
stakeholders.
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in agriculture and development studies. Advanced university degree in gender studies or related field. Thorough proved understanding of gender issues.
Demonstrated communication, facilitation and networking skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. A minimum of 3 years of working experience in the field of gender-related issues, agriculture and
development. Excellent communication and writing skills in both English and Arabic
