UNIFEM/Gender and Culture Consultant

Duty Station: Ramallah
Duration: 3 months (with possible extension of 9 months)
Position: Part-Time
Deadline: 1 April 2009
Remuneration: 750USD/month
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gender and Culture Consultant (GCC) will be responsible for providing gender analysis on Palestinian culture-related issues, identifying gender gaps in culture-related strategies, plans, programmes and projects at the institutional level; providing technical guidance in the development of gender-responsive strategies, plans, programmes and projects related to culture; ensuring that gender in culture is taken into consideration at all levels of the programming, planning and implementation; ensuring flow of information regarding all issues related to women in culture; facilitating discussion on strategies, plans and activities related to women and culture among relevant stakeholders; liaising between UNIFEM and key stakeholders.
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in social sciences, arts or similar. Advanced university degree in gender studies or related field. Thorough understanding of gender issues. Demonstrated communication, facilitation and networking skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. A minimum of 3 years of working experience in the field of genderrelated issues, culture and development. Excellent communication and writing skills in both English and Arabic
