UNRWA introduced the Gender Initiative in 2008 to address the needs of Palestinian girls and women in the Gaza Strip. This comprehensive initiative is designed to improve the capacity of women and girls to exercise their freedom of choice, take advantage of opportunities for personal and professional development as well as to address inequality at all levels of social, economic and political life. At the core of the work of the Gender Initiative lies the commitment to support and empower the most vulnerable people in Gazan society.
Job:
The IT FieldCoordinatorwill be responsible for following up and monitoring the implementation of daily activities taking place in 23 computer centreslocated at partner organizations across the Gaza Strip. The IT centres are part of the Gender Initiative’s larger programme. S/he will provide regular reports of activities undertaken in the centres to the Gender Initiative’s Project Officer.
Tasks and responsibilities
The IT Field coordinatoris responsible for:
-Oversee the implementation of daily activities in 23 computer centres targeting different groups of women and girls in accordance with technical plan;
-Update the computer activities’ manuals and technical plans in cooperation with CBO-based computer trainers and in response to needs as expressed in any needs assessments.
-Conduct daily field visits to locations across the Gaza Strip.
-Identify training needs of the computer trainers and contribute to building their capacity.
-Conductperiodic staff assessments for CBO-based staff and assist with the recruitment of new staff (or replacement of existing staff) where required and in line with approved rules and guidelines.
-Monitor the premisesand equipment in each computer centre and ensure appropriate use of equipment and software by trainers and by labs users.
-Provide regular reports of activities undertaken to Gender Initiative acting Programme Officer.
-Timely reporting of any problems that may arise in the field during the implementation of the Gender Initiative computer activities and take prompt action to solve them.
Required Qualifications
Education: Minimum BA Degree in computer science/Engineering, information technology or related field.
Experience:
At least two year experience in the IT field work
At least two years of working experience with local organisations including CBOs and NGOs

-Good knowledge of computer hardware, with ability to install and maintain equipment.

-Demonstrating knowledge of pedagogy and instruction
-Demonstrable knowledge and skills in working with local organizations

Language:
Good spoken and written English
