Vacancy Senior Web Developer and Designer

Duration: 3-6 Months
PenMedia is a Palestinian educational media NGO associated with the New York-based Sesame Workshop. They are currently seeking to hire a senior web developer and designer to support activities for the Sesame Workshop/Shara‘a Simsim project (funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)), to develop and design a dynamic and comprehensive website for the use of the Palestinian children, parents, service providers and early childhood preschool teachers and supervisors..

A senior web developer and designer will be responsible for design, layout, programming and coding of the website.
He/she will also support the development of materials for use on the website in cooperation with the staff of Penmedia.

Duties and Responsibilities
-Producing a design that will be attractive to the target audience, has a logical navigation system and has all the features required;
-Writing web pages from scratch in a combination of codes, such as HTML and XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Actionscript, ColdFusion, Net, Flash, or using code-generating programs, such as Dreamweaver and Visual Studio;
-Deciding on how images, videos, games and other material will be digitally optimized and presented for the web;
-Technically implement the website utilizing open source, web2.0 technology with preference to utilizing LifeRay opens source technology.
-Incorporate a dynamic site search with advanced filtering capabilities.
-Develop a site map for the website.
-Ensuring that material on the website is accessible to all groups including those with disabilities;
-Give guidance on layout, colors and styles
-Testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions;
-fixing errors
-Prepare a training manual for uploading/modifying content and site management through the CMS, for non-technical users including screenshots of the most relevant functions.
-Provide training to users and administrators of the website.
-Provide hosting with high speed bandwidth and availability.
-Backup all website Data, contents, and user accounts and develop a disaster recovery and restore system.
-Implement effective security measures to prevent hackers from accessing and modifying data and damaging the system.
-Carry out alpha and beta testing of the system.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
-Bachelors degree in computer science, MIS, or related experience.
-Must possess superior skills in ColdFusion 7 +.
-Must possess superior skills in SQL
-Must possess strong skills in Object Oriented ColdFusion Development
-Must possess strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server 2005
-Minimum of three years of ColdFusion experience
-The ability to communicate and teach non-technical users is a must
-Excellent written and oral communications skills
-Strong attention to detail
-Flash video/animation experience is a must
-Childhood Educational experiences are a plus
-Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
-Must submit examples of previous work that was done by the programmer individually
