The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem is seeking an individual for the position of Non Immigrant Visa Clerk in the Consular Section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent serves as one of four visa assistants supporting the non-immigrant visa processing requirements of the Consular Section; Carries out the full range of NIV services; Provides information and assistance to the public; Reviews applications and supporting documents for adequacy and indications of fraud; Alerts the adjudicating officer to matters requiring special attention; Drafts correspondence as required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
- Completion of Secondary School is required.
- A minimum of two years experience in consular work or an area related to customer service is required.
- Must have experience in work that applies regulatory material.
- Level IV (Fluency) in English and Level IV in Arabic or Hebrew and level III of the other of those two languages; Arabic or Hebrew are required.
- Must have authoritative knowledge of U.S. visa regulations and procedures, along with civil/religious documents and practices common in the West Bank and Jerusalem and familiarity with local customs, particularly those related to domestic issues.
- Good Drafting and typing skills are required.

When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
- Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
- EFMs who currently hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of that appointment.
- Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
- Candidates are subject to testing for language, computer or other position related skills.
