Generic responsibilities
- Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Implement delegated WASH project portfolio according to plan of action.
- Prepare and develop status reports on the progress of project activities as requested by the supervisor or management.
- Ensure filing and visual documentation of project implementation.
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
- Actively participate in developing work plans for project activities.
- Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities in line with project activities.
- Conduct regular monitoring field visits and participate actively in the overall project monitoring process.
- Contribute to implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across your area of work.
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
Specific responsibilities
- In collaboration with WASH Co, design and plan WASH environmental protection activities linked to project operational portfolios.
- Lead environmental protection field assessments, implementation and reporting.
- Supervise, guide, and plan daily goals and activities of WASH assistants in accordance with set work plans
- Support in the preparation of tender process documents in cooperation with WASH Technical Officers and WASH coordinator
- Lead the implementation of activities linked to solid waste management and ensure that IDPs benefit from the projects and to comply with agreed cash for work SOPs
- Support water quality assessment. In collaboration with WASH Co and WASH PM, analyze & interpret water quality data and provide reports and information tailored to the requirements of the project.
- Implement necessary vector control activities at target locations to mitigate vector borne diseases and cleaner environment
- Support community mobilization process, planning, and implementation of community Environmental protection interventions
- Ensure quality control in implementation, both at household and community level
- Having knowledge of solar power systems (assessment and design) for WASH infrastructures
- Enhance complementarity with other NRC CC’s including site management, shelter, education, and protection and strong collaboration with support departments (log, finance, HR, admin)
- Develop measures to enhance organizational awareness of environmental protection and implement in all NRC premises
- Coordinate with project partners, and relevant stakeholder on environmental protection aspects, while keeping WASH Co in the loop
- Participate in emergency response activities, including rapid assessments, emergency distributions, cash distributions, and working within the humanitarian response framework.
- Support the efficient and cost-effective use of NRC’s assets and resources to maximise funding to beneficiaries.
- Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management.
- Knowledge of environmental protection, environmental health and environmental degradation. Knowledge of solid waste management, vector-control activities, water quality analysis, community engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or any relevant field.
- Knowledge in both technical/engineering and social/protection aspects of project implementation.
- Experience communicating effectively with stakeholders and communities.
- Experience supervising construction projects.
- Fluency in Arabic, both written and oral.
