MSF-Belgium is currently seeking to hire WATSAN TECHNICIAN

Main Purpose

Supporting the Watsan Supervisor in the implementation, monitoring, maintaining, and trouble-shooting of Water Hygiene Sanitation activities and infrastructure in the project according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population

Accountabilities

Carrying out tasks directly related to the Watsan activities such as construction and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to MSF protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control.
Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the Watsan structures and when applicable, of the medical facilities;
Identifying, recruiting, training and supervising daily labourers or hygiene agents for Watsan activities
Informing the Watsan Supervisor of any difficulties, anomalies and problems that may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area of responsibility;
Assisting the Watsan Supervisor in Watsan data collection and reporting, as well as maintaining updated files and records of assigned project activities

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

EH technician for water distribution

•          Plan and monitor the work of the water trucks and the EH agents accompanying them.
Including rotation of the flying EH agent to allow a weekly day off to all EH agent.

•          Regularly join the EH agents in their work

•          When problems are reported by the EH agents, find solutions together with them
If no solution can be found or other actors must be involved, inform the hierarchical responsible.

•          On Saturdays, collect the monitoring sheets and update the Excel sheet

•          Organise weekly meetings with all EH agents

•          Propose improvements

•          Propose opening new distribution points or closing existing ones

•          Any other tasks as required by the hierarchical responsible

EH technician for the field hospital

•          Plan and monitor the work of the EH agents | outdoor hygienists | cleaners, including
+ grounds cleaning
+ bins cleaning and solid waste storage area upkeep
+ outdoor bins emptying and cleaning
+ emptying, cleaning and refilling hand washing points
+ refilling drinking water points

•          Monitor the functioning of
+ borehole pump,
+ water tanks,
+ RO plants,
+ wastewater pumps.

•          Any other tasks as required by the hierarchical responsible

EH technician for health facilities and IDP’s

•          Ensure medical structures where MSF has medical activities, meet EH requirements for:
+ Water supply, quantity and quality, for cleaning and for drinking
+ Drinking water points accessible to both staff and patients
+ Hand washing points with soap for staff and patients
+ Toilets for staff and patients, male and female

•          In collaboration with HP and Log, organise distributions of hygiene items:
jerrycans, soap, insect repellents… for IDP populations.

•          Any other tasks as required by the hierarchical responsible

متطلبات الوظيفة

Education:

Technical certification or proven background is essential. Desirable specialization in water and sanitation.
Basic English language
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel…)

Experience :

Min 2 years of previous experience in technical works required.

Additional:

As per directive of the MoH, MoH staff will not be considered.
