Background:
WFP is the food aid arm of the United Nations system. Food aid is one of the many instruments that can help to promote food security, which is defined as access of all people at all times to the food needed for an active and healthy life. ¹ The policies governing the use of World Food Programme food aid must be oriented towards the objective of eradicating hunger and poverty. The ultimate objective of food aid should be the elimination of the need for food aid.
UN WFP - is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Monitoring Assistant, under the overall guidance of the Programme unit and the direct supervision of Senior Programme Assistant.
The Special Service Agreement contract extension will be conditioned to satisfactory performance evaluation as well as availability of fund.
The Special Service Agreement is a short term contract modality and has no entitlement/benefit except of the health insurance. Any leaves during the contract duration will be deducted from the monthly salary.
Description of Responsibilities:

Accountabilities: Within delegated authority, the Monitoring Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus are not all-inclusive nor are all duties carried out by all Monitoring Assistants)
Monitoring of Programme implementation:
In areas of responsibility, conduct monitoring as per the monitoring schedule and using the monitoring forms and tools provided on all aspects of the Programme implementation according to the requirements set by the M&E Unit for both post-monitoring (household visits) distribution monitoring including beneficiaries interview for the following programmes:
- Assistance to most Vulnerable Groups under MSA- in-kind
- Assistance to Vulnerable Groups under MSA- voucher
- Institutional feeding (in-kind)
- Assistance for most vulnerable urban groups (AVG, vouchers)
- Assistance for most vulnerable rural groups (AVG, in-kind)
- Assistance for marginalized herders in Area C (AVG, in-kind)
School feeding
- Conditional voucher programme (voucher for work/ Voucher for Training)
- Conduct store monitoring for the Assistance to Vulnerable Urban Groups-Voucher as per the requirement set by the M&E Unit;
- Conduct data-entry of all the filled monitoring forms in the WFP M&E data-base;
- Conduct market assessment and report to VAM unit accordingly;
- Report to the Senior Programme Assistant or person responsible in the country office any infringement or problems in respect to the implementation compliance with WFP rules and regulations and agreement with CPs;
- In areas of responsibility, provide input and support to the Senior Programme Assistant in the development of adequate systems for project implementation, including assistance to organize workshop and draft related materials;
Reporting
- Prepare monthly work plans utilizing the excel file submitted by M&E unit and enter the filled monitoring forms in M&E database;
- Prepare the inputs for the weekly situation reports (Bi-weekly report) for Senior Programme assistant;
- Draft the Notes for records of staff meetings and minutes of CPs coordination meetings when requested on rotational basis;
Administrative issues:
- Attend staff meetings, report on successful stories and assist in organizing workshops, meeting, and exhibitions;
Other duties:
- Provide translation from Arabic into English and vice versa for documents and discussions;
-Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications :
Education:
Completion of secondary school education. Applicant has university degree in business administration, social science or any related studies will be given
preferences.
Experience:
Three or more years of work experience
Has experience analyzing programme output and outcome data.
General knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems and standards.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
