Role Summary & Duties and Responsibilities:

The 3G core network expert is responsible for planning the most optimum 3G core network by providing pre-planning, design, and integration services for both the CS and PS parts of the core network.

-Determining the core network expansion and modernization requirements based on the existing 2G core network and the 3G capacity and quality requirements.
-Dimensioning the core network for both the CS and PS parts according to services, capacity and quality requirements.
-Designing the core nodes and determining the required hardware and software requirements using the most efficient and optimum telecom equipment
-Preparing the BoQ for the core network based on the core design.
-Preparing the core nodes and network acceptance process and requirements.
-Analyzing the 3G core network performance after integration through the OSS measurements, detecting inconsistencies and recommending changes to fixing them.
-Auditing the core network parameters and recommending parameter changes to optimize the performance.
-Executing prompt provisioning of network capacity for all the circuit Switch network elements, features, protocols.
-Integration and implementation of new network architecture to optimally serve the growth of the Core network in terms of traffic, subscribers and value added service capacity.
-Coordinating and validating the technical work with a group of core engineers.
-Transferring the competence to junior engineers through formal trainings or on-the-job training.
-Preparing reports and presentations about the 3G core network plan, design, and integration.

Experience & Qualifications:

-B.Sc degree in Electrical/Telecommunication/Computer engineering or higher.
-6-10 years of experience in core planning projects with operators and vendors.
-Proven expertise in 3G core network planning is required (at least 5 years).
-Deep knowledge and practice of 3G core nodes dimensioning, design and integration processes.
-Full knowledge of the core network (MSC, SGSN, GGSN, HLR, PCRF …) portfolio of the major vendors (e.g. Ericsson, Nokia).
-Practical experience of working with 3G core counters and statistics.
-Solid knowledge of 3GPP specifications and mobile network signalling protocols.
-Knowledge of network solutions and architecture.
-Experience with service testing on different types of handsets
-Strong ability to trace and diagnose network and service faults
-Excellent Knowledge of Telecom Vendors, Technologies, and Trends
