UNRWA is by far the largest UN operation in the Middle East with over 29,000 staff. Most of the staff members are refugees themselves, working directly to benefit their communities – as teachers, doctors, nurses or social workers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the ideal candidate will:
-Assist in preparation and maintenance of the financial accounts including receipt; review all financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with finance procedures.
-Receive all the incoming invoices; maintain log and ensure timely forwarding and submission to Finance Department; Coordinate with the Field Finance Department on financial and budget matters.
-Support the Gender Initiative Manager and Programme Officer in HR management related issues; ensures that individual performance reviews are conducted in timely manner; collates and reports on the collected results. Maintain staff records, staffing table; leave applications and Department level leave plans.
-Ensure that staff time and attendance is properly recorded, verified and submitted in a timely manner.
-Assist in the administrative tasks concerning procurement
-Ensure proper management of office assets, including maintenance of inventory, physical verification of assets and disposal of assets.
-Ensure adequate level of office supplies and maintain a system for office supplies allocation and tracking.
-Maintain a central filing system; ensuring consistent use and appropriate archiving of official administrative, finance, and human resource documents. Maintains up-to-date records of the Department’s administrative activities and reports
-Performs such other duties as may be assigned
PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
-University degree in business administration or related discipline.
-Two years’ experience in administrative work.
-Experience in working on gender issues.
-Experience in the usage of computers and MS Office software packages (MS Word, Excel and Access); experience in handling web-based management systems.
-Fluency in Arabic and English.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
-Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary varies from $839.20 to $1257 based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate; plus a currency adjustment factor (present rate 16%).
-Contract Duration: six months. Extension is subject to continued need, availability of funds and satisfactory service. .
-Leave: 30 days annual leave.
-Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
-A regular staff member can apply to this LDC post but will not be allowed to assume such post through secondment as he/she needs to leave his/her current post to accept LDC appointment.
EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.

Where there are two or more equally qualified candidates, selection preference will normally be given to internal candidates, Palestine Refugees and candidates of the under-represented gender. An internal candidate with a temporary-indefinite or fixed-term appointment selected for this post will retain his/her current contractual status and entitlements in accordance with current letter of appointment and applicable Area Staff Rules. With their prior agreement, candidates who are approved as suitable for appointment but are not the selected candidate for this vacancy, will be placed on the Agency’s roster of pre-approved candidates for a period of up to one year, and may be considered for future vacancies in the same position.
The Agency maintains the discretion to fill future vacancies for this position from the roster without readvertising the vacancy.
