Museum Collections Expert
Introduction
Birzeit University has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) - Education to Work Transition Project - Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Development of Palestinian Archaeology program for Rural Tourism. Accordingly, Birzeit University seeks the selection and employment of a Museum collection expert.
Assignment Objective
Birzeit University is considering the selection of highly qualified expert responsible for museum collection management for the purpose of conducting training of trainee as well as students and integrating museum teaching in the rural tourism programs.
Tasks and Responsibilities
-The Museum collection expert will be responsible for the following tasks:
-Supervise, coach and monitor students training and teaching modules.
-Work with the teaching staff and private sector partners about potential student projects relevant to museum components.
-Provide advice on diverse museum designs and proposed collection management strategy for the various related activities within the project partnerships scope.
-Produce training materials and integrate the practical training in museum collections and material heritage in the educational syllabi at Birzeit University.
-Assist in field and practical training for the students in the museum collections documentation and presentations.
-Conducting ToT training integrating museums in rural tourism.
-Produce an evaluation report of the museum implementation components in the thought modules.
Qualifications& Skills:
-Minimum Master degree in Museums or archaeology or any other field dealing with collections.
-Knowledge of Palestinian museums, material culture and archaeological collections.
-Proven experience in conducting at least three TOT.
-Experience in collections database management and use in digitized forms.
-Flexibility in time.
-English fluency.
Deliverables
-Inception report and work plan.
-Training Manual in integrating museum studies in the syllabi.
-An evaluation report on the current state of museum projects.
-A list of student projects integrating the museums in rural heritage.
-24 hours ToT sessions.
-120 practical coaching and training hours in museum related to the taught modules.
-16 days of coaching student projects at least one producing a museum
-Final Report.
Place of work: Birzeit University
Time Frame: February 2016 to February 2017.
Contract Type: Lump Sum Contract.
