Contracting a Technical Engineer from Gaza
Background and Assignment details:
Mercy Corps, in partnership in with the International Youth Foundation (IYF) and national partners including the Palestinian Charity for Youth Economic Empowerment (CYEE), Save Youth Future Society (SYFS), and Hebron Youth Development Resources Center (Hebron YDRC) are implementing the USAID West Bank/Gaza-funded Positive Youth Engagement (PYE) program
To meet the goal of transforming vulnerable youth into productive, connected, and contributing citizens, Mercy Corps, IYF, CYEE, SYFS, and Hebron YDRC will deliver a three-pronged, mutually reinforcing program segmented by gender and age across the targeted communities at around 40 safe spaces that will be targeted under PYE by providing required renovation, maintenance, furniture and equipment to establish a healthy environment whereby the youth can contribute or participate in learning, social, and civic engagement opportunities without any discrimination, harassment, or bias at the selected community-based organizations (CBOs).
Mercy Corps is seeking a qualified Engineer from Gaza, to support PYE in identifying each CBO needs to host a safe space for youth by conducting field visits and meetings with relevant people. This also includes site inspection visit with PYE team to check topography, existing structures, related existing utilities and structures including data collection, optional design, and CBO requirement’s approach with cost estimate, in addition to other assignments and responsibilities, more details to be provided for the qualified candidates.
Duration of this assignment is 6 months extendable based on program need

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
University degree in engineering. Minimum two years’ work experience in engineering and construction project implementation and supervision. Spoken and written English proficiency is essential. Physically able to spend the long periods of time in the field.
