Developing Board Game
Overall Objective:
The primary goal is to create an interactive board game that educates youth about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) through engaging, scenario-based gameplay. The game will disseminate important information and facts and encourage discussions on several topics in a way that is easy to understand and relevant to youth.
Scope of Work:
The scope of work will include, but not be limited to:
1. Content Integration:
Collect and review materials from the gender manual and previous LARP game scenarios to identify key learnings, objectives, and scenarios relevant to Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) on human rights principles, SRHR, GBV and promoting gender transformation and equality.
Adapt the selected materials into game content, ensuring that information is simplified and engaging for youth as they are the main targeted audience. This will involve transforming theoretical content and real-life scenarios into game mechanics.
2. Game Design:
Develop one board game that may be played individually or played in groups for larger participation and reach that is visually appealing and easy to understand, with clear rules, gameplay, mechanics and dynamics and clear objectives that engage players with focusing on educating the players about Gender and SRHR.
3. Analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement in gameplay, educational content, and user engagement. Make necessary revisions to the game design and rules.
4. Manage board game production to ensure widespread use of high-quality materials and long-term durability.
Deliverables:
1. Organize a game design workshop with game development experts, game designers, and representatives from the target audience to brainstorm and refine the game’s content and mechanics while documenting the workshop outcomes, including new ideas, content suggestions, and any modifications to the initial game concept.
2. Detailed documents that outline the game mechanics, rules, gameplay, design, and content with a clear understanding of the illustrations and specifications for game components (board, cards, drawing pads, dice, timers, markers, etc.)
3. A fully functional board game prototype for initial testing and review.
4. Production-ready versions of the board game, packaged with all necessary components and instructional materials.
