BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In cooperation with its Palestinian partner organizations the CPS offers ‘safe spaces’ where alternative methods, such as cultural pedagogy and art, are developed to promote prospects of life free from violence and to strengthen peaceful social structures. The CPS / GIZ programme in Palestine aims at overcoming the growing social fragmentation as well as contributing to the reduction of violence through offering cultural and sports activities to vulnerable children and youth from different refugee camps and marginalised areas in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and Gaza. 

Drum Power is a stress relief and violence prevention concept focusing on resilience strengthening, pedagogy and alternative strategies in dealing with impulses, aggression, and conflict. Using drums and other percussion instruments as a musical intervention that mainly focuses on rhythm and groove, the project is highly inclusive to all levels of musical skills. The overall goal of the project is to improve physical and mental health & resilience of Palestinian children and young adults. Children and young adults, especially girls, are strengthened in their self-confidence and self-efficacy. The project objectives are to provide participants with the opportunity to be trained in a meaningful and worthwhile recreational activity, which will strengthen their physical and mental well-being.
