Enhancing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for Children and Caregivers in Gaza" RAM/2024/ED/SE/16
At its 42nd session, the General Conference adopted 42 C/Resolution 54, which calls upon UNESCO to prepare “a programme of emergency assistance for Gaza including an Action Plan with immediate implementation”, to establish a “special account for voluntary contributions, in conformity with the financial regulations of UNESCO, for the reconstruction of Gaza in its field of competence”, and to “actively monitor the situation in Gaza to ensure direct UNESCO participation in the implementation of relevant actions within its mandate.” UNESCO has prepared an Action Plan with immediate implementation, whose Objective 2 is to “provide psychosocial support to learners.”
In this context, UNESCO Ramallah will provide psychosocial support services including recreational activities, group and individual counselling, aiming to increase access to mental health and psychosocial support for 1200 crisis-affected boys, girls and adolescents in Gaza.
The overall objective of this assignment is to support the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of crisis-affected children and adolescents between ages 3 and 17 in the Gaza Strip by providing them with opportunities to participate in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities.
