MA’AN Development Center is implementing the project “Enhancing Community Resilience in Bait Lahia” which is funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation “AECID” aiming at enhancing the resilience of the vulnerable communities of Bait Lahia by improving access to essential services, job creation, and gender equality. Applying a comprehensive approach, the project supports easing human suffering and restoring basic living conditions for the vulnerable people of Bait Lahia while sustaining and improving access to basic social services (WASH and GBV), agricultural production, and reliable livelihoods.

MA’AN is seeking a consultancy firm to elaborate an environment and social impact assessment (ESIA) in order to explore and determine the possible environmental and social impacts of the infrastructural subcomponents (sewer line installation and WASH facilities upgrade) ; detail the possible environmental and social impacts of the sewer line construction; and to manage, mitigate, and monitor any possible negative impacts during the design, construction and operational phases of the project; and where possible enhance positive impacts. The assessment should be carried out in conformity with the requirements of the Palestinian Environmental Assessment Policy.

The consultancy firm should present a set of qualifications and technical backgrounds that suits the scope of the consultancy. MA’AN expects the consultancy firm to have a composition of a multi-disciplinary team to execute to consultancy.  

The expected key qualifications:                                                    

• A high academic degree in related fields.
• Proven expertise working in conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessments.
• Proven knowledge of the WASH situation in the Gaza Strip.
