Assignment: Event Management / Area C Chronicles
Closing date: September. 08. 2021
Duration: September/ October 2021
Location: Area C of the West Bank
Area C Chronicles:
Oxfam seeks to hire an event management company that will take the lead in organizing a series of hiking and biking tours by a group of young activists and local influencers who will hike and bike different locations in Area C being targeted by the project. These participants will hike and bike four locations Oxfam works in, meet with the women and men farmers we work with, and spend some time with them to learn about what it means to be a resident of Area C. How is the expansion of the illegal Israeli settlements affecting their lives? Do they have access to water resources and grazing areas? What are the other challenges they face on a daily basis?
The participants will learn from those farmers how the EU project is helping them overcome these challenges. The young activists and influencers will carry out some voluntary activities with the farmers and also jointly enjoy some recreational activities such as singing and cooking, making tea and coffee on fire in the open. The participants will start vlogging mainly in English using their smartphones, documenting their journey, talking about the challenges farmers face in Area C, issues they found interesting and how the EU and Oxfam are helping them be resilient.
Oxfam will also contract a creative media company that will:
Accompany the participants.
Document all activities including the hiking and the biking tours.
Assistant in the production of the Vlogs.
This media company will also use the footage to produce short social media videos that will capture the whole event, the conversations and the young participants (activists), influencers and other guests interacting with farmers, picking up some fruit or making tea, coffee or traditional food on fire in order to show the Palestinian way of life. Once the activity is concluded these Vlogs and videos will be disseminated online via Oxfam, the EU and the influencers’ platforms to create better awareness about Area C with audiences in the EU.
When the dates for the hiking and biking tours are set, Oxfam will invite EU representatives and others from different consulates and embassies to join the event. The event management company will be in charge of providing branded promotional and visibility materials such as T-shirts, caps, water bottles, banners etc.
