The Non-Formal Education (NFE) component's goal is to provide learning opportunities for youth in grades 7–12 to counter various interruptions and challenges in their learning. NFE focuses on developing essential skills and knowledge to empower youth and improve their prospects through engaging and culturally relevant learning materials that cater to youth's specific needs, interests, and motivations. NFE will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and growth to equip youth with the tools necessary to succeed in their educational journey and beyond.
The purpose of the Non-Formal Education Learning Material Consortium is to ensure that the resources and materials developed are engaging, relevant, and accessible to youth, regardless of their background or learning style. By incorporating diverse perspectives and innovative teaching methods, the Non-Formal Education (NFE) component aims to create a more inclusive and effective learning environment for all participants. Local or international service provider(s) will create 50-hour material in science and math for youth in seventh and eighth, ninth and tenth, and eleventh and twelfth grades utilizing Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and project-based, experiential, and innovative pedagogy.
The service provider(s) will also be developing 15-hour supplementary English language materials on SEL and UDL to support the core pre-A1 to A2 English as a Foreign Language (EFL) textbook series. The role of the Consortium is to continuously evaluate and improve the quality of the learning materials, as well as to collaborate with PYE to ensure best practices in non-formal education. The Consortium will also work to ensure that the materials are culturally relevant and engaging for all participants, regardless of their background or location. By incorporating diverse perspectives and interactive activities, the Non-Formal Education Learning Material Consortium Experts will enrich the learning experience making it accessible to a wide range of learners. Through collaboration with experts in the field, the materials will be designed to meet the specific needs and interests of each age group, fostering a lifelong learning and growth mindset.
Required Experience & Skills:
· 7–10 years of experience in learning material development in English language, science, or mathematics subject areas.
· Strong understanding of youth development principles and best practices.
· Proven ability to adapt materials for diverse learning styles and settings.
· Extensive experience with the local educational landscape.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
· Excellent time management skills, ability to deliver assignments within set deadlines.
· Experience working with diverse populations, including youth from different cultural backgrounds.
· Knowledge of MEL to assess learning effectiveness and impact.
· Capacity to work in a consortium comprised of key informants in the field of non-formal education, preferably experience working in a similar consortium.
