The Palestinian Youth Association for Leadership and Rights Activation - PYALARA is seeking to contract with an experienced firm/company/ producer to produce 11 documentation videos within the project "Toward increase Social Responsibility of Palestinian community and higher accountability of Duty Bearers: Consolidated Efforts to Combat GBV and Discrimination of Marginalized Palestinian Women", which is implemented by PYALARA in partnership with The Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling (WCLAC) and funded by the UN Trust Fund(UNTF)
About PYALARA:
The Palestinian Youth Association for Leadership and Rights Activation (PYALARA) established in 1999 as a youth-oriented organization that seeks to empower young female and male Palestinians aged 13 to 25 in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip.
The issue of youth rights, participation, social entrepreneurship, and inclusion in the decision-making processes at the local and national levels is at the core of PYALARA’s work.
PYALAR also aims to activate and enhance the capacity of young Palestinians especially in the marginalized areas to serve as agents of social and political change inside their communities and the society at large.
PYALARA has been working snice its establishment to create a media culture in Palestine. In fact, PYALARA was the first organization that provided the Palestinian youth with media platforms, both print and visual, to make them able to express their problems and issues and make their voices heard by officials and decision-makers. For this purpose, PYALARA published the first youth newspaper in Palestine "Voice of Palestinian Youth" and produced the first youth television program called "Ali Sawtak" and "Talat Maqdisiya" " and other media productions.
Project:
The Palestinian Youth Association for Leadership and Rights Activation” PYALRA” is working in partnership with Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling (WCLAC) to implement the project “Toward increase Social Responsibility of Palestinian community and higher accountability of Duty Bearers: Consolidated Efforts to Combat GBV and Discrimination of Marginalized Palestinian Women”. The project is implemented in the West Bank and Gaza and funded by the UN Trust Fund.
Project Objective:
The project aims to increase the awareness of the entire Palestinian community on Family Protection Law through advocacy and media campaigns, including awareness videos and web-program episodes shed light on stories of women survivors of violence and femicide. The project aims to protect women who suffer from GBV in the governorates of Tulkrem, Tubas, Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jericho, Hebron, and the Gaza Strip and support access to their rights by engaging the Palestinian youth in these efforts.
Scope of work:
Media Productions:
Production of a documentation video for “Talking coffins” events in The West Bank:
Output: 1 documentation video
Objective: Document the events that will be held by PYALARA staff and some volunteers to present the phenomenon of femicide in 10 locations across The West Bank.
Talking Coffins’ is an awareness activity that involves placing five wooden coffins, each connected to headphones, with each coffin containing the story of a woman who has been subjected to violence. Participants can listen to these stories through the headphones. The activity aims to raise awareness about the phenomenon of femicide and emphasize the importance of forming a strong societal stance against it.
Target Audience: The Palestinian society in all its categories except kids.
Duration: 7 minutes maximum.
Subtitling: Translation to English and subtitling.
Filming locations: Different areas in Southern, Central, and Northern of the West Bank.
Timeframe: 24/02/2025-30/06/2025.
Production of 4 documentary videos for four initiatives focused on women’s rights
Output: 4 documentation videos
To document four initiatives to be implemented by volunteers across the West Bank, focusing on women’s rights. The goal is to empower youth to actively highlight and advocate for women’s rights issues during prominent events, such as International Women’s Day and other significant occasions.
Subtitling: Translation to English and subtitling
Duration: 3-5 minutes
Location: The West Bank
Timeframe: 24/02/2025-30/06/2025
Production of 6 documentation videos for 6 debates
Output: 6 documentation videos
Objective: Documenting 6 debates will be held between young Palestinian and duty bearers to lobby and influence the adoption of the Family Protection Law.
Subtitling: Translation to English and subtitling.
Duration: 2 hours.
Location: The West Bank.
Timeframe: 24/02/2025-30/06/2025.
Expected Deliverables:
The total contract period for the consultancy will be 4.5 months, from February 2025 to June 2025. Within this timeframe, and in close coordination with PYALARA, the following deliverables are expected to be completed:
6 documentation videos for 6 debates.
4 documentation videos for 4 initiatives.
One documentation video for “Talking coffins” events.
PYALARA responsibilities:
PYALARA will select the themes for all media deliverables, focusing on topics such as gender equality, women's empowerment, legal rights, and social justice. These deliverables will be shared across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Follow up with the second party and supervise the provision of the service within a period to be agreed upon between the two parties.
Required Qualifications
Company Profile: The company should have at least two years of proven experience in the field of TV production. The profile should highlight past projects, expertise in high-quality video production, and familiarity with industry standards. Preferred qualifications include experience with professional camera equipment, such as 4K resolution cameras, advanced post-production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro), and a demonstrated ability to produce content that meets broadcast or digital media standards.
The bidding company or individuals will be responsible for providing all necessary equipment and supplies for production, including 4K cameras, audio recording devices (lapel and boom mics), lighting kits, and post-production software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve). Additional equipment, such as drones and video camera stabilizers, is also required.
Intellectual Property:
All information, rushes, raw footage and associated materials related to the assignment as well as outputs produced under this contract shall remain the property of PYALARA who shall have exclusive rights over their use. The products shall not be disclosed to the public nor used in whatever format without written permission of PYALARA in line with the national and International Copyright Laws applicable.
