THE CONSULTANCY

One main component of “Hemaya” is implementing a media campaign that aims to promote girls and women with disabilities in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip access to safe and supportive services responding to their needs. Also, to improve the system of laws, legislations and policies related to the rights of persons with disabilities, and to translate them effectively on the ground in which to reduce violence against them.

The short-term goals of the campaign are:

Raise awareness of girls and women with disabilities about the concepts of violence, protection from violence and the legal rights of girls and women with disabilities.

Raise awareness among service providers about the concepts of violence and the legal rights of girls and women with disabilities and protection system against violence.

Mobilize local public opinion towards supporting women with disabilities’ protection right against violence.

Impact decision makers to improve violence protection services for women with disabilities.

Influence local media to be sensitive to violence and disability issues.
