Project Title: Roadmap to Reconciliation: Palestinian Women Lead the Way
Location: In-person (specific location to be agreed upon within Jerusalem area)
Duration: 10 sessions over 5 weeks (2 sessions/week, 2 hours each)

Background
Middle East Nonviolence and Democracy (MEND) is a highly regarded organization based in Jerusalem, committed to advancing social justice, human rights, and community empowerment. With a strong history of implementing impactful programs, MEND empowers marginalized communities by equipping them with tools and platforms to advocate for their rights, particularly through participatory video and community-led initiatives.
Under the project “Roadmap to Reconciliation: Palestinian Women Lead the Way,” MEND, in partnership with the Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy (PCPD) and the Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi Center for Culture and Development (HCCD) aims to strengthen women’s leadership and active engagement in decision-making processes to foster internal reconciliation and sustainable peace.
Objective of the Assignment
MEND is seeking a qualified and experienced Nonviolence Trainer to design and deliver a comprehensive and interactive training program. The training will focus on active nonviolence, conflict transformation, and peaceful coexistence, with an emphasis on empowering Palestinian women to act as agents of reconciliation and social change.
Scope of Work
The Nonviolence Trainer will be responsible for:
• Designing a training curriculum tailored to the local context and the specific needs of the women participants.
• Conduct 10 in-person training sessions, each lasting 2 hours, over a 5-week period.
• Covering core topics such as:
• Principles and history of nonviolence
• active nonviolence strategies
• Conflict analysis and transformation
• Mediation and negotiation tools
• Gender-sensitive approaches to nonviolence
• Leadership and active listening
• Using participatory and experiential methodologies to ensure engagement and learning.
• Providing session materials and handouts as needed.
• Submitting a brief final report summarizing session content, participant feedback, and recommendations for future training.
Deliverables
• Training Curriculum and Plan (submitted prior to the start of the sessions)
• 10 In-Person Training Sessions (2 hours each)
• Participant Feedback Forms (designed and distributed)
• Final Report (summary of sessions, outcomes, and recommendations)
Required Qualifications
• Proven experience in delivering training on nonviolence, peacebuilding, or conflict resolution.
• Strong facilitation skills and experience working with women and community-based groups.
• Familiarity with the Palestinian social and political context.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluency in Arabic; English is an asset.
Duration and Location
• Timeline: 5 weeks (2 sessions per week)
• Session Duration: 2 hours per session
• Total Hours: 20 hours of training + preparation/reporting time
• Location: In-person (exact venue to be coordinated with MEND)
