Introduction:
Palestine Association for Education and Environmental Protection (PAEEP) has been formally registered since 1999 as a local, environmental, community based, non-profit and non-governmental association. Its main office is in Gaza City and it also has a branch in Ramallah. PAEEP works in four main areas: (1- relief and emergency, 2- environmental protection, 3- capacity building and development and 4- economic empowerment) to enhance the resilience of marginalized groups and to enable them to participate in the development process to build a society in which each individual lives in a healthy, green environment, and enjoys a safe economic and social life.
PAEEP is implementing “Enhancing Access to Basic Needs and Livelihood for the Conflict-Affected Population in the Gaza Strip” project which is funded by Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH). The project aims at utilizing several cash modalities throughout the course of implementation. In the initial stage of the project, 170 HHs will be provided with 10 months of unconditional, unrestricted MPCA. In addition to the MPCA, 50 HHs will also receive small business grants to support the establishment of a variety of small businesses. The proposals for the small businesses will be developed independently by representatives from among the 170 MPCA recipient HHs, with the support of small business training and Small Business Management Specialists provided by the project. The proposals will then be reviewed by a third-party consultant for comprehensiveness and feasibility, in line with criteria agreed upon between the consultant, DKH, and PAEEP. The conditional cash grants will be provided to establish these businesses in two-three tranches.
Assignment Objective:
PAEEP is considering the selection of highly qualified Business Development Consulting companies to assess 170 business plans prepared by the beneficiaries of the project, and participate in the selection of 50 of the most comprehensive and feasible business plans to receive the small business grants.
