Location: Ramallah, Hebron, Bethlehem, Jenin and Tulkarem 

1. Background:

Asala is a leading Palestinian business association established in 1997 that specializes in supporting women micro-entrepreneurs to be successful by breaking down social and financial barriers through business training, capacity building, marketing, advocacy, and lobbying. Asala aims to provide Palestinian women with the necessary skills and opportunities to successfully contribute to advancing their society based on equal rights and access to resources and markets.

Asala provides comprehensive and needs-based services to women entrepreneurs in the West Bank and Gaza Strip along three strategic tracks, namely:

1. Advocacy and lobbying for women’s economic and social rights
2. Capacity building for women entrepreneurs

• Facilitating access to local, regional, and global markets for women entrepreneurs.

As part of its efforts to achieve its mission and vision, Asala is now a partner in the “Pathways to Employment” project in Palestine, in partnership with the Belgian Development Agency – Enabel, and funded by the Government of Belgium. This project focuses on empowering women by supporting them in developing sustainable micro or small businesses, enabling them to generate income and enhance their economic independence.

2. The objective:

The program, "Empowering Women in the West Bank: Building Sustainable Futures through Business Development and Market Access," aims to build the technical and personal capacities of 80 women and provide 40 women with seed funds for MSME development. Under this project, the Palestinian Businesswomen Association – Asala is seeking to hire a training specialist/company in storytelling and public speaking. The specialist/company will present 5 trainings in the 5 areas, in order to enhance participants’ ability to craft compelling narratives, communicate ideas effectively, confidently engage with diverse audiences, whether on social media or in person, and create the content for the social media platforms.

The training sessions will focus on practical techniques for storytelling, impactful presentation delivery, business promotion, and overcoming challenges in public speaking. These skills aim to empower participants to advocate for their businesses and causes, build meaningful connections with stakeholders, and achieve their communication goals with confidence and clarity.

3. Methodology and Scope of Work

The consultant/company is expected to support Asala in organizing and conducting technical training in storytelling and public speaking skills to enhance the 80 beneficiaries’ capacity to effectively deliver and present ideas, concepts, and information to others. Under the supervision and in close cooperation with Asala, the training specialist/company will implement the following tasks:

1. Creation of the methodology and training material for the workshops for approval by Asala, as well as pre and post-training evaluation surveys and a report of the findings including review and feedback from the trainers.

Preparation could include the following training and coaching units: 

• Moderation skills
• Communication skills: 

1. Speech skills
2. Discussion skills (how to lead a discussion, how to make a point, etc.)
3. Self-presentation skills (how do I present myself)
4. Business promotion and marketing content

• Role as an advisor: 

1. Active listening 
2. Question techniques
3. Presentation business ideas effectively.

• Principles in content creation for social media platforms
• Presentation skills (PPT creation including standards, classical training, how to present etc.)

1. Drafting and finalizing the methodology and training/workshops schedule and submission to the Asala for final approval.
2. Conduct five in-person trainings across the West Bank in the following locations: Ramallah, Hebron, Bethlehem, Jenin, and Tulkarem.
3. Each training will span 3 days, with 5 hours of training per day, totaling 15 training days for the entire program.

4. Deliverables

The following will be the expected deliverables of the consultancy:

• Inception report including the work plan for developing the trainings, and strategy and proposed
• pre and post-training evaluation surveys
• General evaluation survey
• Comprehensive report in English on challenges, analysis of evaluation surveys, recommendations, lessons learned, and next steps for the participants.
• Archiving agenda, presentation materials, other documents produced, and participants’ lists.

5. Duration and time frame

The implementation is expected to be completed within February 2025.

Four (4) days after signing the contract the trainer will have to provide Asala with the inception report that will articulate the overall requirements of the ToR including the proposed methodology, and work plan with clear timelines.

6.     Requirements

• A summarized description of the scope of work and the intended methodology to be used as well as a tentative work plan including activities and timeframes. 
• An example of similar pieces of work completed recently. 
• For companies: Registration certificate, source of deduction and tax invoice.
• Freelancer: Copy of ID
• For Both: CVs of the team who will implement the assignment.
• Two references.
• Itemized financial proposal.

7. Evaluation and Selection Process

This application is open to specialists/companies who are specialized in implementing such trainings.
